Due to inclement weather, North Florida will play Eastern Kentucky in the ASUN Softball Championship game tonight at 6 p.m. Eastern time. Originally scheduled for 2 p.m., the Ospreys seek their first-ever softball championship.

Benning tosses a complete game, allowing just four hits, and North Florida defeats Eastern Kentucky 2-1 to advance to tomorrow’s championship. UNF is just one win away from winning its first ASUN Softball Championship.

With one out in the inning, EKU notched two infield singles and scored on a ball that hit off Benning’s hand. Thankfully, Benning stayed in the game and recorded the final out to preserve the UNF lead. While EKU recorded its first hit and run in the inning, UNF is still winning 2-1 in the sixth inning.

Kirsten Caravaca singles in Brock, doubling the Ospreys’ lead to 2-0. It’s the sixth inning and Benning still hasn’t allowed a hit on the mound.

In a battle between the winners of both divisions, the Ospreys lead 1-0 as we start the fifth inning. Benning still hasn’t allowed a hit on the mound. This is a big park, so don’t expect much scoring.

Benning has worked two straight 1-2-3 innings, allowing zero EKU hits. Ospreys lead 1-0 in the fourth inning.

Hadlee Reichert led off the second inning with a triple. North Florida’s next two batters couldn’t bring home Reichert, but Kalyn McCarthy hit a ground ball misplayed by the EKU third baseman, scoring the game’s first run. UNF leads 1-0 after two innings.

UNF put the first two runners on base thanks to Lauren Brock, who singled, and Benning, who walked, but failed to capitalize on the opportunity because of a great catch by the EKU centerfielder.

Similar to yesterday’s game, Benning strikes out EKU’s best player, Maddi Rutan, and works around a leadoff walk to keep the Colonels from striking first.

No. 1 seed UNF and No. 2 seed Eastern Kentucky are underway in the first semifinal of the ASUN Tournament. UNF designated player Allison Benning is starting for the second straight day.

Two Stetson hitters reached base on a hit by pitch and a single. Nonetheless, Benning gets out of another jam as the Ospreys’ infield turns a double play.

Addyson Bruneman singles but UNF couldn’t advance her into scoring position and the game is still scoreless after two innings.

After forcing two Hatter groundouts, Benning works around a two-out walk, keeping the game scoreless with UNF coming to bat.

Despite Chloe Culp and Kirsten Caravaca reaching base on two-out singles, North Florida couldn’t continue its two-out rally, as Grace Shaw-Rockey grounded out to end the inning. We are scoreless after one inning.

Stetson put two runners in scoring position following a leadoff single and one out double, but Allison Benning evades the threat, keeping the Hatters off the board. UNF will attempt to score the game’s first run.
